"Tapping Noises" Is This thing On?

Banality follows below fold...

Art by Sun-3
My third week back at work.
I'm no longer doing clerical and light jobs, I'm doing my old job, which is quite physical.
I find have not recovered from the stroke NEARLY as much as I had hoped.

My alarm was set not to go off on Sunday. Since I generally will get up before 7 anyway this is not an issue. However, if one needs to be to work at midnight, and one sets one's clock for 11pm...it IS an issue. This "morning" I woke up at 23:48 for some reason, realized I'd overslept, got dressed ran to the van, ran back in, took my meds, ran to the van, and went to work. I was not too late, being only about 10 minutes from work, but it was a rough beginning to the week.

Work is pandemonium, the supply chain issues are affecting us, albeit indirectly. It is not the heaviest year I've seen, but work flow is quite intense, and schedules are constantly changing.

My job involves lifting 20-70 pound boxes, coming down a belt, approximately 21 times a minute and lifting most of them over my head. It also involves intermittently pulling bags off of the same belt belt that are not to exceed 70 pounds, but in practice, (since 2020) can weigh as much as 200. I am sore.

To be honest I still have issues putting on my boots, so this is a bit of a challenge. Still I'm coming back to work 3 months early, so I should probably not complain too much.

My van broke its serpentine belt while I was on the way to work last Friday. This caused the alternator, power steering heat, assisted brakes, and alternator to go out. I got it towed but parts shortages kept me out of work for 4 days. The 860 dollar repair bill, was a bit of a surprise, but it turns out the compressor had frozen and needed to be replaced. Bypassing the A/C was not an option since a belt of the proper size to bypass that spool cannot be obtained at the moment.

I'm exhausted and my back hurts.

But, I am surviving, I am employed, I continue recovering, and, I just got my insurance reinstated, so I'm doing better than some people. However hours, if not total volume, are longer this year than most previous Christmas seasons, so blogging will remain light for now.

1 This is such a doze of real life. In comparison, my right front parking sensor's bracket is broken. Someone must've swiped it at a parking or something.

2 I think I commented when you used that image around this time in a previous year how awesome it is, and just how much fodder is in there for a story. I should really try my hand at writing a short story based on that, it would be good practice.
Great to hear you're back to work and managing to hang in there. I'm pretty sure I couldn't do the work you describe right now myself, and I have no excuse!
