SUNDAY! SPLODIES!

 Tonight at 6:50 EST / 10:50 UTC We will be observing applied methane and oxygen chemistry in action! We'll watch Space-X make yet another attempt to get their reusable spacecraft ( STARSHIP ) into space without it performing an unplanned auto-disassembly.

Last Stream! Much Drama! TRUE CRIME (certain caveats apply)

80 years Ago Today:




On this day, 80 years ago, we won a war that had been forced on us nearly four years previously. 

Many of our own died bringing about a just and honorable peace. Today we should revere their memories as we should those who were able to stand amongst the victors..

There are those who think we should be ashamed of this great accomplishment. Today we should make fun of those people and remind them that they breathe easy and can afford their luxury beliefs because braver souls than they stepped up all those years ago. 

There have been wars these last 80 years, some stupid, some shamefully unnecessary, but nothing like the bloodletting and atrocities that 1939-1945 saw has come to pass in that time.

And for that, we should be truly grateful to those who so convincingly won that terrible war with weapons and methods so dreadful that even today those who would unleash such wickedness upon the world are forced to pause and reflect.

Blogmatters:

I still cannot post images, except via cut and paste. This is slightly awkward with regard to formatting and does NOT work at all for animated .gifs. However, such first world problems aside, the issue with loosing posts has been largely fixed. The last 5 posts published on the first try. 


The big arrestor switch on posting has not been technical, but rather a sense of existential dread I get looking at current events and not being certain of what they mean, but having a degree in History that does not foment optimism. Things are actually not that bad on the face of it and I have much reason for optimism, but there is a palpable unease as if watching towering columns of smoke grow closer and only vaguely understanding what they portend. I've been working on THAT particular post for a month, but it is currently in a state of being absolute poop. 

In other news, my schedule is stabilizing. I've been trying to keep to a consistent streaming schedule since the streaming channel is now making me enough money.....to....uh....go out to eat at a nice restaurant once every 2 or 3 months. 

I just spent 2000 dollars on car repairs and still have a few medical bills to pay off, so my plan to retire at the end of this month is not going to happen. My current tentative retirement date is 1/1/26. Which, if it comes to fruition, will be a nice birthday present. 

About the only thing I want for is some non-video-game entertainment. Most of what I read is non-fiction, but if anyone knows of any particularly good anime, or such that have come out since Frieren, please post them in the comments.
