It's OFFICIAL!
I've now been formally accepted into the College of Oceanography!
Following on the heels of being accepted into the College of Asian Studies this is great news for a number of reasons.
I'm now grandfathered into both programs so no more curriculum changes will bedevil me!
It was kind of funny watching the Dean go through my transcript...and go...and go....until he realized how long I`ve been at this..."You`ve...1989!!"
One additional relief: I now KNOW...from the department... that I don't have to retake any more of the lower level science courses.
EVEN BETTER... I have just been informed by the department head and my new adviser that, aside from the few classes needed for my minor my required quota of BS courses has been met!
I'm actually closer credit wise to graduation than I thought, though course scheduling could potentially still delay my graduation 'till next spring. I will have to take two thirds to 3 quarters as many credits as I thought.
I also did pretty good on my exams. However, the Japanese written test was multiple choice, so in reality I lucked out. I'm still a bit behind, particularly in Kanji but as spring break is next week I've 8 more unfettered days to catch up.

Amazing! Good stuff!
Does an education in oceanography represent an asset to the CG? I would assume it does, but I'm not certain.
Are you thinking of joining the CG full-time once you're out of school?
