After 2 weeks of Coast Guard duty I arrived at work this morning to discover the impossible had happened. For the first time UPS actually adjusted my schedule exactly the way I asked AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER!
I had no stress getting to class, showering or anything. I had to buy books of course....but the line...at the UNIVERSITY bookstore was only 7 minutes long! (not the 30 minutes to an hour of previous years). I congratulated the shift manager on the superb organization and staffing this year...THis seemed to scare him for some reason.
I got an "A" in Japanese, I've payed for all my books (except the one not in stock). I even got out in time to miss the traffic.
The first day of class went by with unnerving smoothness..
Fortunately this end times level goodness was adequately compensated for by the denial of my tuition assistance by the CG.
So fear not the world is still safe!
Anyway, I still have a chance to graduate in the Spring of '09. It will require a couple of classes falling into place right but It's within grasp. After that teaching in Japan and possibly taking aquaculture courses over there...
Goals for the next 4 months...
Get good grades obviously,
Qualify as a Foreign Vessel Inspector in the Coast Guard...
Meet weight requirements by the next weigh in....only 88 fasting days left!

It wasn't so much that the manager was scared of you congratulating him, it was that he was probably burned out and exhausted. He wasn't so much scared as hallucinating.
