Medical Follies
Banality skulks below the fold.
As compensation here is some Ado.
So: Monday morning I went to the hospital. As I noted I had experienced similar symptoms 3 times earlier and gone to the ER, only to be told it was exhaustion.
The Third time I was told that IF I checked into the hospital, I could get an MRI and get a higher resolution picture that might catch something missed by the CT scan. Not wanting to incur a hospital room bill, and feeling better, I demurred.
Last Wednesday, I had another similar episode, and, after 3 false positives, I decided to just roll with it.
Sunday night I was improved but still not 100% and was....concerned. So I checked myself into the Hospital. Blood, CT scans and EKG's all came up negative. The MRI was delayed but I finally got it this afternoon.
Turns out that I had a stroke last Wednesday.
Not only that, there was evidence of 3 previous mini-strokes in the same place.
It seems that there is damage, (from the big stroke) in that part of the brain which means that blood thinners are not ideal for me, rather the opposite.
My medication has been changed. And, in the future, I will NOT be popping caffeine pills before work, even if, like last Wednesday, I had gotten no sleep since Monday morning.
I return to work Monday, so I am fortunate.
Streaming and blogging will resume shortly, but I have much to do.
