I may not need surgery. I meet with the othopedist on Thursday now.
The fear was that one of my discs was less a disck and more an "o" ring which WOULD require surgical intervention to either replace the disc or fuse the vertebrae.
I certainly feel better than I did Friday/Saturday when I could hardly walk.
I'm still limping and it takes me quite long to get shoes or pants on, but the lower back feels much less like a toothache and more like an....ache.
I hope to be back to work on Monday (fingers crossed).
Today, I was able to fold myself sufficiently to enter the pickup of peril, unaided, for the first time in over a week.
My computer is in the shop. The cybercafe has gotten rid of Firefox, and I'm not going to be there any more until I start getting a paycheck again.
In other joyous news, Chizumatic reports that the market for affiable gaijjin teachers has suddenly collapsed into what may well be a gaijin glut. My cunning plan suddenly looks less cunning.

Glad to hear you can at least get upright.
I've got a friend over there who just finished his three years with JET. He got himself another job at a university translating application documents into English. I hope the collapse doesn't flood his office with cheap(er) immigrant labor .
