I'm reminded of the Simpsons episode where it's revealed that both presidential candidates are evil aliens in disguise. But when presented with this fact, the aliens counter that they STILL have to vote for ONE of them.
When the option of voting for a third party (and fully human) candidate is presented, one of them scoffs, "Go ahead, <I>waste</i> your vote..."
The denouement shows the population of earth enslaved and the citizens of Springfield working the mines in chains. Homer mocks the others by saying "hey, don't blame me, I voted for the other guy...."
