SUNDAY! SPLODIES!
Tonight at 6:50 EST / 10:50 UTC We will be observing applied methane and oxygen chemistry in action! We'll watch Space-X make yet another attempt to get their reusable spacecraft ( STARSHIP ) into space without it performing an unplanned auto-disassembly.
Unplanned auto-disassemblies are always fun to watch! However, if the thing actually stays together this time then we'll be watching HISTORY. So, stop by https://www.twitch.tv/brickmuppet . Say "Hi!", grab some popcorn, and join us in chat as we watch the fireworks!
Stay around after the fireworks! We'll discuss the launch, space settlement and other geekery while watching me derp in Zenless Zone Zero!

Thanks for the tip off about flight test ten. Went off this evening. Magnificant fireball, that was also maybe underwhelming. After the controlled landing in the ocean. And the visual telemetry during re-entry was particularly beautiful.

Also, don't have the twitch account yet, but my answer is more likely to be the burnell sphere than the stanford torus. I absolutely make no promises about psychological safety, but my hobby horse on spinning habitats may be better satisficed by the sphere.

Anticlimactic in a good way.
They had a flap burn-through again, but it didn't ruin the mission.

Yeah, and the burn and parabolic trajectory increased the re-entry velocity over a hypothetical "normal" flight. They were stress testing the heat shield...so I guess it passed.

Scott Manley thinks that the V2 may have had oxygen lines near the rear flaps, and that such could have started the rear flap damage. (Basically, the publicly known skirt incident might have been one of two incidents.) He was also floating the theory that the orange is just a colorful deposit of something SpaceX did for some reason. (I may have been watching too much videos just now.)

Systematization
Soon everything and everyone will be the same bland shade of international orange and we will all consume while fearfully pretending to enjoy (and be) the same homogenized slop.
Last Stream! Much Drama! TRUE CRIME (certain caveats apply)
Tonight at 7pm EDT/11pm UTC, join us for the the last stream from the curry mine for about a week. Tonight, we will be continuing in Genshin Impact where we left off in the Fontaine/ Liuye crossover-quest we unlocked Friday night. SO THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO HARASS ME IN CHAT! Do not let this opportunity slip by! Stop by https://www.twitch.tv/brickmuppet and partake in streamer harassment, what appears to be a crime drama, and learn about IMPORTANT internet trivia!.
Caveats:
It's the last stream....for about a week.
Not much drama actually! Don't worry, everything is OK, I just have to go help out some relatives with some storm damage, but I don't expect to be back for 4-5 days.
It's a video game, set on another world: the crime probably is not actually true.
On this day, 80 years ago, we won a war that had been forced on us nearly four years previously.
Many of our own died bringing about a just and honorable peace. Today we should revere their memories as we should those who were able to stand amongst the victors..
There are those who think we should be ashamed of this great accomplishment. Today we should make fun of those people and remind them that they breathe easy and can afford their luxury beliefs because braver souls than they stepped up all those years ago.
There have been wars these last 80 years, some stupid, some shamefully unnecessary, but nothing like the bloodletting and atrocities that 1939-1945 saw has come to pass in that time.
And for that, we should be truly grateful to those who so convincingly won that terrible war with weapons and methods so dreadful that even today those who would unleash such wickedness upon the world are forced to pause and reflect.
Blogmatters:
I still cannot post images, except via cut and paste. This is slightly awkward with regard to formatting and does NOT work at all for animated .gifs. However, such first world problems aside, the issue with loosing posts has been largely fixed. The last 5 posts published on the first try.
The big arrestor switch on posting has not been technical, but rather a sense of existential dread I get looking at current events and not being certain of what they mean, but having a degree in History that does not foment optimism. Things are actually not that bad on the face of it and I have much reason for optimism, but there is a palpable unease as if watching towering columns of smoke grow closer and only vaguely understanding what they portend. I've been working on THAT particular post for a month, but it is currently in a state of being absolute poop.
In other news, my schedule is stabilizing. I've been trying to keep to a consistent streaming schedule since the streaming channel is now making me enough money.....to....uh....go out to eat at a nice restaurant once every 2 or 3 months.
I just spent 2000 dollars on car repairs and still have a few medical bills to pay off, so my plan to retire at the end of this month is not going to happen. My current tentative retirement date is 1/1/26. Which, if it comes to fruition, will be a nice birthday present.
About the only thing I want for is some non-video-game entertainment. Most of what I read is non-fiction, but if anyone knows of any particularly good anime, or such that have come out since Frieren, please post them in the comments.
Streaming Schedule: NOW WITH TWO WEEKS OF DERP!
This will be a short week as I'll be leaving the curry mine for a bit to.....um.....get some centrifugal spice separators.
That is my story. And I am sticking to it.
There will be two Zenless Zone Zero streams this week to compensate for the fact there will be none next week. Tuesday we will make another attempt to finish Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and Wednesday we'll be continuing the current event in Genshin Impact. Thursday's Zomboid community stream is up in the air pending resolution of some technical issues and if that goes forward, the next stream will be on Tuesday the 12th, when we will continue trying to move forward in Final Fantasy 14. Next Wednesday's schedule depends on a few variables, but we'll have a Zomboid community stream next Thursday, and next Friday we'll have a real treat, as we watch and discuss an amazing silent film from 1925 (Grass) in a collaboration with Hyasynth Live! (then stick around for the post movie Genshin Party).

Nick Frietas, Mrs. Queen Bee, and, Erik von Kuehnelt-Leddihn Some Heinz Guy With an Anime Avatar discuss the housing market. this is actually a very informative, comprehensive, well sourced, and well reasoned discussion.

Rudyard Lynch presents a very good, well researched overview of the tensions on the subcontinent that flared up a few months ago. He goes into considerably greater detail than I did when I mentioned it back when it was happening. This is a topic that has had me concerned for a while and, while I had made comparisons to the situation and the first World War, Rudyard brings demographic data and a cultural/historical understanding that point out that the parallels are far from superficial. As a bonus he may help affirm that your transcendental fears are not misplaced. One thing he does NOT focus on is the fact that Pakistan's focus on tactical weapons for battlefield use potentially have a lower threshold for use and are sells secure from the terrorist cells that are endemic to the nation.

Dad Saves America has had a lot to say about "Luxery Beliefs". Now he interviews the fellow who literally wrote the book on this topic. Rob Henderson fails to disabuse the host of his concerns.

Bro, the dudes who wrote the regulations and theory for practice of nuclear education were mostly tedious detail oriented obsessives. We inherited a bunch of stuff that is good unless you want to do stuff fast without knowing in advance what happens, to see what happens. It ought not be surprising that there was some detail that could be understood as applying to a wasp nest, and that one of the autistic freaks involved with the investigation tracked that down, did the comparision, and recorded that detail.
Somebody was making a fuss about 'where are the wasps'.
My response was to want to joke about them living in assisted care on the moon. Which led to the thought that the NSDAP moon base is obviously part of NASA's area 420, where NASA's science missions are really directed from. So my self-diagnostics this week are positive for excess levels of silly.
