A Scarrier Word than Hemorrhagic (Updated)

Posting will remain light to nil for at least the rest of the week.
Reasons are rather graphic and as a courtesy to our readers are below the fold.

In the meantime, here is your Edith Hamilton fix.

First off, The good:

Mom is much better, my dad is trying to get his hernia surgery (canceled when mom had the stroke) rescheduled.  My grandmother is with my brother and uncle this week and is even walking again. My sister has recovered from the post birth complications and she and my brother in law have landed a better, cheaper house. I'm going to school full time and working and am still on track to graduate this year. (yay!2)

However: I've been under the weather the past two weeks largely from exhaustion or so I thought.

Well, Friday, I just about collapsed and went home early from school all kinds of sick. Saturday I felt a little better, Sunday night I felt a bit worse, and started passing LOTS of blood.

Not good...I rode this train just under 2 months ago. It was not fun. But this was particularly worrying because it was a LOT more blood I mean...when I went to the hospital and gave a sample the nurse assured me that even though none was visible, they had instruments that could detect if there was any urine in my blood.

A nurse with a sense of humor is a good thing.

In any event the diagnosis was the same as before, a really, really bad Hemorrhagic UT infection. I'm on massive doses of different antibiotics. I was given instructions to make a followup appointment with a specific urologist.

To my chagrin the doctor in question, while working for a urology center, is in fact, their resident oncologist.

I like that word oncologist even less than that word hemorrhagic.

I'll know something in a couple of days. In the meantime, I've got 3 tests.

You know what makes this worse?  I'm too old to be sent to Yamaku Academy to recuperate.

UPDATE:  I spent 2 hours today getting poked, bled and TSA'd. Cancer is looking somewhat less likely than it was. As I understand it, the most likely possibilities, in descending order of likelihood are:
1: A stubborn infection that I've never gotten over fully that's been re-emerging when I'm worn down.
2: Physical trauma from work
3: Kidney Stones
4: Cancer

Also: I do haets me some catheters.

1 Dad's urinary oncologist was named Peter Pistor. I kid you not.

It's good that you went to get it looked at immediately. Keep us posted.

2 ...maybe Yamaku University..?  Seriously, don't worry about dishing up the "free ice cream"; the most important thing right now is for you to get better.  I second Avatar's thoughts, though - at least let us know how you are now and again when you're able.

3 Oh hell.  Get well soon, 'muppet.  Great to hear that the rest of your family is doing better, but you need to look after yourself too!
