I've been seeing those 1" cubes in a lot of videos lately, I wonder where they come from?
There's also a 4" Tungsten cube that's been making the rounds of the GunTubers and others.

Search for "density cubes"; they're all over Amazon, eBay, Etsy, etc. I think they're for teaching ranged combat to homeschooled kids. :-)

My mother works at a place called "The Institute for Physics of High Pressures", which is basically centered around a giant press. They were the first to make synthetic diamonds, long time ago. These days they're trying to create a metallic hydrogen. Basically scientists were so preoccupied with the question if they could, they forgot to ask if they should. Metal hydrogen is not a quantum state, so who cares? Maybe they should start a Youtube channel too.

A friend of mine, Rex S., is a leading seller of some kind of "model cube". He was a teacher in a high school and started it as a hobby after he had a brain cancer and became unable to teach due to seizures. He was selling all sorts of garbage, like miniature steam engines, polished stones, and geodes, until one day he sold these cubes to some industrial place. I think he makes them mostly out of tungsten.

So, a very dangerous mutated strain of CoronaChan emerged in Danish mink farms a bit over a week ago. The Danish government ordered the culling of all the minks in the country. Rather than incinerate them, the buried the dead minks in a cemetery resulting the following, genuine 2020 headline...
The story is somewhat vague on certain crucial details. Are they ambulatory dead minks? Or just dead minks that floated up like corpses in a New Orleans graveyard?
I assume the latter, but it is 2020, it doesn't specifically SAY that the dead minks aren't walking, and the calls for calm are coming from some spokesperson at The Guardian.
Note:
Remember that .22 long rifle is probably the best round to have in a zombie apocalypse, the ammunition is as available as anything else is right now, is relatively cheap, and is very light and compact in comparison to other types of ammunition. 1000 rounds only weigh in at 8 pounds with 10 plastic ammo cases. .22 lacks in stopping power, but is still lethal and capable of bringing down animals one is likely to be able to realistically dress and eat on the run, like birds and squirrels. With zombies, shot placement (brain) rather than conventional stopping power is the key.

I have some hardware and software questions for my readership, many of whom are, unlike me, not parishoners in the Church of PEBKAC.
All of my computers since my TI-99 (4-A) had been Apple products, but Apple has rather lost its luster, and is looking to be soft and wormy. Additionally, things that Macs used to excel at, like A/V editing, are much better handled today by PCs and their more open source software. The upcoming divergence in chip architecture will make even the current kludgy work arounds untenable. The only (theoretical) advantage to the walled garden is cyber security and malware avoidance and that has been effectively neutralized by Apple providing their own custom made malware in recent months.
I'm done with Macs, but I'd like some input on the best PC rigs for video editing, if possible, I'd like some overlap with PC gaming, which, arguably, a good graphics card ought to facilitate given the right software. Additionally, Given that I've got two Bitchute channels, I'd like the capability to stream (though I suspect that is generally more a function of one's connection, than one's hardware).
These are remedial questions to be sure. However, I am a Mac user. I know NOTHING about computers except that they rely on good industrial design to keep the magic smoke inside.
The additional complicating factor is that I'm looking at 1-2 thousand U.S. dollar price range, since I'm about to retire and there are a whole series of moves and big purchases about to happen in the next 5-6 months.
If laptop, do you game? If so, you want a laptop with a discrete GPU, otherwise it (mostly) doesn't matter. I guess the same applies to desktop, too, except you can add one later if you want. I bring it up because adding one will raise the cost of the laptop several hundred dollars.

I like the looks of the Alienware R10 Ryzen Edition; starts at just over a thousand and can be built up to a very capable just-under-two-thousand box (Ryzen 7, 32 GB of fast memory, larger SSD, etc). Disclaimer: I don't have one, and I don't know anyone who does; it's just a highly-configurable AMD-based machine that can take up to 128 GB of memory and dual graphics cards, with a design that looks like it should be running GladOS.

AMD is better at any given price point than Intel, and Nvidia is generally better supported by video software.
I gave it water cooling because it was only $50 more and the one thing that bothers me with my own Dell systems is the fan noise.
Worked out to $1377 with the current 10% discount. You shouldn't need to wait long for another discount to show up; I have three Dells and they were all bought during sales.

Shopping around a little that looks to be quite a good price. It only has a 550W power supply, but that's fine for that configuration (65W CPU and 175W GPU).

It's not G-Sync, but Nvidia now supports Freesync over DisplayPort so it should work fine. And the 2060 isn't a 4K gaming card, but my rule is work at 4K, game at 1080p.

Ah, I messed up that first link to Dell. I copied it after adding the 1000W PSU upgrade.
It's $20 more than before, but now has a 1TB SSD and no HDD. You can easily add a SATA or USB disk drive, but replacing the SSD that's acting as your C drive is a pain, so this is better long term.

Unless you just want to build your own, the Dell Alienware Ryzen covers your bases. And as I told my adopted daughter last night: "Does Dell actually make a better computer than other companies? No. But they make just as good, and they've really mastered the game in finding and getting reliable support for your specific computer. As long as you don't have to talk with anyone."
Seriously, I was working on an old Dell this weekend; needed drivers, and just loaded up Dell.com and searched for the computer's service tag. Bam. Everything I would ever need.
Consistently reliable upload and download speeds. What most service providers would advertise as 30megasomethings covers every BASIC, yet full HD, minimum.
Be exceedingly pleasant to look at, or have a sparkling personality. Or stream incredibly unique content. Unless you're doing it for fun, then none of that matters.
I do not know Bitchute's rules, but Twitch won't actually let you stream in full HD unless you can prove yourself popular for an extended period of time. I think YouTube will let you do so, but they're slowly fading out all the profit-sharing and developer benefits that used to make them attractive for many people. But they are, to put it another way, VHS; Twitch is SuperVHS, and everything else is Betamax. If your audience only uses Betamax, that's fine. Just remember that it's still Betamax.
Audience interaction is important in live streaming. You may not need the ability to actually hear your audience speak, but the only way you can respond in a speedy manner and keep doing what you intend to do is speaking to them rather than typing. On the subject, GOOD AUDIO is a must. Your voice must be as close to crystal clear as you can get it. Great Audio is ten times better than Good Enough audio.

This question is actually fairly pertinent to me right now, given that my desktop has either suffered a motherboard or CPU death mid-use, and now refuses to POST after I hit the power button. However, since I am still an old stodgy, the lack of an internal optical drive (Yes, I do use it, and no, I am not getting an external one for my desktop.) is a deal breaker for most of the pre-built systems I have seen, including Dell. Literally the only prebuilt systems I have seen with Ryzen come with a crappy graphics card.
Having enough bays to mount my still working HDDs is important, while I have finally accepted moving on from Windows 7 to Windows Spyware. I am pleased with the minimum 500 watt power supply of the rigs, though given that I had needed to do 2 system replacements and/or rebuilds because the power supply was dying, I am interested to know who Dell uses for their OEM power supply.

cxt, Dell's Inspiron and Optiplex lines have built-in optical drives (they're the skinny, laptop-sized ones), at least on some models, unless they stopped recently. Those aren't really big enough to have more than a couple of 3.5" drive bays, though.
Most people don't seem to use optical drives these days, and coupled with a desire to have multiple HDD bays building your own machine might be a better option. I did a quick look and Maingear and Cyberpower don't seem to offer anything but the option to have an external optical drive. HP does, but you have to look a little bit.
Having said that, if you (for example) ordered a custom system from Cyberpower you could get one with both Ryzen and a good GPU--Just playing with the configurator a bit I put together a 5600X/RTX 2060 system for $1260, and a 3700X/3060Ti system for $1660.

Our crack team of Science Babes have thoughts on the implications of these explosions on the rocket.
"Yeah. That's actually how rockets work. In this test the explosions were all in the right places and pointed in the right direction! That's a, uh, success."
Oh.
Well, that explains why this rocket, the prototype for a fleet expected to number in the hundreds and intended to travel to the moon, asteroids, as well as bring settlers to Mars, is still scheduled to conduct a test flight to an altitude of 9 miles next week.

Seems to me the shortages are a self-fulfilling prophecy. Local news reports a story about it (and of course they do, these stories come in a can from somewhere and are easy to open up and reheat, so to speak) and BOOM. Local tp shortage.
I went to the local grocery last week, plenty of tp.
Went on Tuesday, after one of those stories? While the tp aisle wasn't *cleared out,* it was a lot emptier than it had been.
No, I didn't buy any, I had a big pack at home and bought a SECOND big pack when the local caseload dipped and I felt okay making a run to the nicer grocery store an hour's round trip away.
I also noticed stockers rapidly refilling the canned goods aisles, so I suspect that's the next story up, that people are hoarding food again.

On the Wisdom of Grip Safeties
So, one of the trees in the front yard had grown to where it was in the same time and space as my roof.
This was not readily apparent from the ground. However, during the weekend windstorm, I heard it dragging against the roof and after closer inspection realized what was going on.
So I borrowed a polesaw from my brother-in law, got on the ladder, and, after determining both that I wasn't underneath or in the swinging path of the branch, and that said branch would not damage my roof or my car, I started chewing away at it. The polesaw is like a chainsaw greave, and as I cut away at the first, and then second branches, I could not help but imagine how awesome this would be as a polearm in a minimally realistic martial arts film.
At this point in the process, the tree decided that it had had enough and that physics did not apply to it and the branch fell, not directly down, not to the side that I was cutting on, but, as near as I can tell twisted the cut out towards me, swung towards me and swatted me off the ladder. The polesaw made a long arc through the sky before deciding on the ballistic trajectory that would place it on me. I caught a gimps of it just before it impacted. My heart skipped a beat and I now have a much greater appreciation for the final moments of Elric of Melniboné. However, because I was not holding the grip safety, it was not running, thus I was not disemboweled; escaping with some scrapes bruises and a coating of sawdust and dirt.

Now Wordpress is PurgingLast Refuge (ConservativeTreehouse.com) just received a missive from their hosting provider WordPress. that contained the following assortment of words.
...given the incompatibility between your site’s content and our terms, you need to find a new hosting provider and must migrate the site by Wednesday, December 2nd.
WordPress hosts a lot of websites including a large number that are not to the left of Lenin. I believe Instapundit is a WordPress site. This is deeply troubling as it means that the censorious rot has spread to mid tier hosting services that have, in the past, catered to people not striving to fit in to the Santa Clara Valley Junior Virtue Signal Auxiliary.
It also puts to rest the silly notion that the purges would let up after the election. The patrician pooh-bahs of Palo Alto were blindsided by Trump, that most unlikely Tribune of the Plebs, and they seek to ensure that no Plebian Assemblies will ever again empower others like him.

There's a difference between using WordPress's blog software and being hosted on their servers. Insty's been using his own server for years--he was hosted by HostingMatters for a long time, not sure if he still is. They were big enough to protect from DDoS and willing to stand up to people who wanted to shut down bloggers using their platform.

Hmmm.
I wasn't aware of that distinction. Pixy mentioned it too at his place, noting that WordPress blogs tend to get hacked at an alarming rate. I infer from his remark that Wordpress software requires a very large infrastructure to effectively host it, particularly if the site in question is likely to attract the attention of the New Watch and Ward Society.

WordPress is very customizable, but--at least in the past--that customizability led to massive insecurity, mostly via 3rd-party extensions that were full of vulnerabilities. I'm not sure how much infrastructure it actually requires, but a watched the gunbloggers get deplatformed the same way a couple years ago, and I know other groups did a couple years before that--the great deplatforming of "adult bloggers" both on regular blog platforms and, in particular, on Tumblr, led to a bunch of people pointing out if you're letting Google or WP or whoever actually host your blog, you're at risk if they decide they don't like you. As far as I know, license-wise, there's nothing (other than the WP company itself) to stop Sundance getting a complete copy of all his data, the WP software, any extensions he uses, etc, buying a hosting package, and just moving his site. Instapundit mentioned it this morning--apparently he still does use Hosting Matters, and they DO stand by their customers.

Wordpress is still a security nightmare (see also "PHP"), and if you don't have someone dedicated to keeping it up-to-date, you will get hacked. You might still get hit with zero-day exploits, but if you just installed it once and left it running, you might find out who really owns it someday.

Space-X has launched a NASA mission with an international crew consisting of NASA and JAXA astronauts to the International Space Station. The mission commander, Colonel Michael Hopkins USAF, will be transferred and sworn in to the U.S. Spaceforce during this mission, and so this mission marks the first spaceflight of a Spaceforce servicemember. Hopkins has two spaceflights under his belt. Mission specialist Shannon Walker has done a previous tour to the ISS, Victor Glover is on his first spaceflight, but is an experienced test pilot and The Japanese astronaut, Soichi Noguchi, is one of 7 current (11 total) Japanese astronauts, has been an astronaut since JAXA was still NASDA, and has ridden fire twice.

Late
This morning, leaving for work, I was running much closer to the wire than I like. I started out the door and...couldn't open the storm door.
And the porch light burned out.
Some considerable pushing and squinting later I realized that Amazon had made a delivery during the night and there was a box kind of wedged under the storm door and several others in front of it.
So I went out the back door, which can't be locked from the outside, went around to the front door, dislodged the box jamming the storm door, went in locked the rear door, got all the boxes into the living room ran to the van, ran back, locked the front door and went to work.
It is the first time I've been late in a long while.
