Back...Sorta
As compensation for the self indulgent banality below the fold, here is a tomboy archer contemplating some pyrotechnic mischief.
I work for a global shipping company that shall not be named.

Some time ago, in a fit of pique due to a variety of vexations that included the union not endorsing her preferred candidate, the CEO of the company I work for announced that there would be no overtime whatsoever for employees at her shipping company during Christmas. To this end she hired 3 or more times as many people as needed, meaning that she paid 3 or more TIMES normal payroll all the time, as opposed to 1.5 times occasionally. All out of spite.
The hours WERE cut...to the bone in fact, but the volume was compressed into a frantic crushing tsunami of boxed well beyond the capacity of the company's facilities to handle in a given time.
This had two main side effects:
1) My job, which cannot make use of more people because of industrial engineering issues specific to the facility I work at, became several times as hard, pushing me to my physical limit.
2) The motors overloaded, and I'm told, in other buildings they actually burned up.
As a result, yesterday I unlocked the life player achievement: WORK MORE OVERTIME THAN STRAIGHT TIME.
See...
It is the Holiday season.
Using the following formula.
Spiteful Girlboss CEO + Holiday Volume x (Arthritic Knees +Kidney Stones)
Neurological Damage from Stroke
Where Holiday Volume has a value of CARDBOARD TSUNAMI you will find that my absence has been completely excusable.
Ahem:
I've been busy, sore, and had family medical scares. I've been making round trips of 500 miles to visit my folks because there have been....moments of concern. Both parents, my Uncle and my sister, are OK now. Everything's fine.
Because of the small remaining bits of neurological damage from the stroke, I sometimes have to focus on every aspect of my moment and speech. For example, when fatigued, I have to consciously move my foot to where I want it to go this can lead to "issues" that are quite comical to an observer.
If exhausted, as I often am when I come in from work, I have an absolutely amazing ability to type, and then be absolutely blind to, typos. This has caused several posts to be delayed, or scrapped. a quick perusal of my post stroke posts will reveal an apparent total lack of understanding of comma rules for instance. Don't get me started on spelling. I apologize to you, gentle readers for any cognitive damage my PEBKACery has caused.
If I get too physically tired, my speech still begins to slur (this has led to some mildly amusing moments at work, and momentary anxiety for my supervisors). This and the typos (I believe) are actually helped by playing video games(for eye/hand coordination) and being disciplined in speech sufficient to interact with chat somewhat coherently. Thus I've been prioritizing streaming on Twitch. Where I've suddenly started to get occasional...paychecks. Which has further incentivized me to stream with my limited physical and mental bandwidth.
Anyway, I'm trying to balance things to the point that I can do long form posts again, but it's going to be dicey, at least until after Christmas.
So, in conclusion, I apologize for the ridiculously long hiatus, and will try to do better in the future, but, it's 11:00am as I type this, and I have to be at work in 14 hours. So posting is going to be intermittent for at least three weeks.
I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving and that the holiday season is good to you all.

The very prolific Sci-fi writer, David Weber, developed medical issues in his hands and arms many years ago that would have curtailed his ability to write novels that sometimes make the US Code of Federal Regulations look like a quick read. To combat that, he became an early adopter of Voice-to-Text software and wrote most of his longest books that way. If you are having trouble with long form typing, it's something worth considering as such software is easily and cheaply accessible these days. Probably best to avoid using it during gaming for the hand-eye coordination development, though. Anyway, the advice is worth what you paid for it.

I've considered that, but I'm trying to discipline myself. I do think I'm getting better gradually. Thanks for the suggestion though.
