A Brief Update

The only thing left this semester is the oral component of the Japanese exam, which will be on Monday. I was prepared to take it today so running through the CDs again on Sunday and my fellow students Monday should leave me sitting pretty. I have one class in the Summer which I was dearly hoping to get. As compensation for this happy turn of events it falls on my vacation.
My folks leave on their trip tomorrow morning. Their departure was delayed by an issue with their watermaker and today by the weather that brought a flock of tornadoes twirling through parts just south of us.
I got a new keyboard. Somewhere, Steve Jobs is screaming from beyond, furious that one of his 2,000 dollar iMacs is attached to a 9 dollar keyboard from Wal-Mart. I still bear the scar inflicted on me by his bloodthirsty industrial design team, so I'm allowing myself an ugentlemanly satisfaction at his pique.

My oral Japanese exams were 100% of my grade (And I really bombed them once or twice) but the worst thing is, they were administered by a guy from Cornell (not my college) who was not a native speaker, and whose pronunciation was abominable.
(For contrast, my tutors were native speakers, who told me I spoke with no accent.)
Unfortunately, I remember almost none of it. It's been over 20 years.
