Status
Every muscle hurts.
I am completely beat.
A kidney stone has embarked upon its journey to find the true meaning of Christmas.
I have to work through the weekend.
The boxes continue to come.
I'm tired of all the winning.

Yegads, 16+ hours of moving boxes? I guess that bodes well for the retail economy, but I hope you have lots of good pain relievers on hand.

I was always wondering why the parcel companies add an additional sticker, about 2/3 credit card size, on all packages. It does not have a barcode, so it's not like it's for routing. The normal label performs that function.
The UPS sticker has a color code for the area, printed as a word. My old one in New Mexico was "orange", the new one in Texas is "brown".
I hypothesize that the secondary sticker serves as a backup in case the primary label is obliterated. But I don't know. The entry points do not seem to add those.

The delivery vehicles of package delivery companies serve dual use. In times of civil unrest they will be used by the omnipotent ubiquitous "they" as paddy wagons and troop transports.
The colors are internal codes for customer assessment based on what is in the company database about the individual.
For example:
Orange means "Blogs about anime (non-Yaoi) watch closely."
Brown means "Blogs about Seinin anime, politics, AND GUNS (non oppositionally). Probably trouble Place on list to be detained in case of unrest."
Black means"Blogs about Seinin anime, politics, AND GUNS (non oppositionally), has a pilots license and defected from the glorious U.S.S.R. to collaborate with running dog capitalists....is ideologically and logistically problematic. Yeet customer into the fire straight away."
Mostly though, we just use them to sort the package to the right place on the delivery truck.

I'd Buy That Comic
Of course the
story's a few days old, but this cartoon by
Bob at the Telegraph is just worthy.

Originally they were talking about a Polish guy named Lucasz, who was helping clean up the kitchen after lunch, being the narwhal horn guy. But it turns out that he went with the less exotic "big long whacking-pole." He's in the hospital with some stab wounds but is okay.
The identity of Narwhal Guy and the Extinguisher is still a mystery.

Wait. WHAT!?
How is gunfire not in the thesaurus?
I just had to
stand up, reach onto the bookshelf over my computer and pull out a BOOK. (Oh the indignity!)
Specifically, the
Oxford Desk Dictionary and Thesaurus American Edition Edited by Frank R. Abate Published by Oxford University Press (New York, Oxford) in 1997.
And there on page 347 in column one sits "Gunfire".
Winston Smith does love his job I suppose.

"I just had to
stand up" like an animal, no doubt?
FWIW, the word is in thesaurus.com.

The Last Few Days Have Been Much Like This at Work...
...except that the incoming fire is all boxes and we have nothing with which to shoot back.
Yultide shopping with the GFL girls is by Rorinya.
On the one hand, there's been overtime.
On the other hand, there's been overtime.
