Happy Dance is Engaged (UPDATED)

The first remake of Space Cruiser Yamato was absolutely excellent. Now it appears that they are indeed remaking the second series too

UPDATE: Two other (shorter) videos are available.

Framegrabs (possibly spoilerish) below the fold...
**********

It appears that they Earth defense Force has decided to provide its female officers with uniforms rather than cans of spray on latex.

Reactions to this seem to be mixed.

It appears from this frame that General Evil is not in the stockade, and that there are Gamillons either as part of a diplomatic mission or military attache's on Earth.

Captain Yamanami is still around.

The classic second season fighter does make an appearance...

...as does that thing from that sequel (Yamato Resurection)

I see they are going with the dreaded General Invidia rather than the scheming courtesan Invidia.

In sharp contrast to the Battle at Pluto in the last series, the Earth Navy seems to have a more international flavor. At least The United States and Canada have their traditional warship names well represented in what appears to be a joint Earth-Gamilon squadron.

Don't name a battleship Sugarloaf?

1 So where can I find Star Blazers 2199?  Youtube seems to have nothing but short clips, and Crunchyroll doesn't have it, either, unless my searching was bad.

4 Ah.  Well, that's annoying.

5 There was a limited release and it can still be gotten.

Note that the Japanese Blue-Rays come with English subtitles (Which kind of kneecapped the American release)
