The Meaning of Blog
In theory, Blog is a portmanteau of Biographical and Log, so below the fold is a bit of biographical banality. As a courtesy to our readers, the Walter-Mittyisms are below the fold and above it is a picture of Lum, that you might be surprised to learn is by Renji Murata.
Mom's surgery initially went OK. However, a week later she is still running a fever thus things are a bit touch and go. She's been back to the doctor twice.Trying to keep her from lifting anything is hard.
My sister is, as feared, going to need a C-section. This is looking to be a dreadfully difficult pregnancy for her (she's a redhead with most of the associated complications). The surgery date has been moved up a week, to Tuesday, which has, as one might imagine, everyone here a bit worried.
As for me personally, things are going OK though there have been a few agrivations...mostly minor.
A 4mm kidney stone is never a pleasant thing, but advice from a super genius made it vastly less incapacitating.
The van broke down the other day which was annoying, but not terribly expensive. I could not get it to start and initially thought it was the starter. However, checking the wiring and fuzes led me to discover that I did indeed have a blown fuse. A quick check against the circuit panel revealed that it was the Starter and AC fuse (why the starter and air-conditioner run through the same fuse is a question I cannot answer). So...I pulled the only other 20 amp fuse (deciding that HEATED REAR WINDOW was a capability I could live without for the night) and proceeded on my way. The next morning I had the same issue. It turns out that there is something wrong with the AC which occasionally kicks in when the blower kicks on. I pulled heater, blower and climate control fuzes until I could get the thing to stop tripping the starter fuse. This is a work around, not a repair, but it means that getting the van running again involved missing only half a class and 4 dollars for 2 fuses....which was most welcome. I'll get the thing fixed in the next month or so.
As far as school goes, Kanji is coming out my nose...but it is still not making me literate.

One minor quibble:
That is not a mere nitpick. That is an attack on the entire premise of the preamble to the post (well...I suppose it doesn't challenge the legitimacy of the alien babe in the bikini).
