Oh My

I'll just leave this Drudge-ism here....

I will note that closing the monuments is completely unnecessary even given the shutdown. Roping them off, obscuring them from view and hiring guards to harass vets expensive PR theater on the part of the administration. This costs considerable money and so is not the fault of the House of Representatives. Hell it's probably unauthorized expenditures.

I further note that the house voted to fund this, the VA and other things but the Senate won't have it.

While the polls don't look good for the House right now, given these silly and frankly mean antics by the administration, It will be interesting to see how public opinion shakes out on this over the next few days.

2 Interestingly, the order to erect barriers that weren't there before and to have staff standing by seem to have come from much higher up than the park service.
