For those who might be unclear on exactly what this is,  Yuri Night celebrates the anniversary of the launch of the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin. Not that...um... other Yuri. For those who will, therefore, be feeling terribly disappointed and cheated by tomorrow's post, Brickmuppet Blog helpfully provides (as a courtesy) this moment of reflection.

For those who are understandably offended by this  utterly uncharacteristic display of base, prurient, pandering we offer as compensation this bit of thoughtful commentary for the other demographic.

3 I don't remember it from the show, but it's been a while since I last watched it, and I don't think I've seen the OVA, which gives a different ending to the show (basically replacing the last episode)...

3 France had a ship like this but with  two four gun main turrets and only small caliber guns on the rear. I think the Brits may have tried this with two three gun main turrets. The French scrapped theirs in  the early 60's I believe. I don't know the fate of the British ships. Is this a photograph of the French ship or just a juxtaposition.

4 No this is a photo of IJNS Yamato that's been very heavily photo shopped.

The ships you are talking about are Jean Bart and Richelieu. Ton for ton they were among the best battleships ever built. Richelieu had a very active and interesting career in WW2.

This is rich.

Evil rightwing asshat comments on the Boots and Sabers blog, advocating the assasination of teachers and, amongst other things, speaking highly of the Columbine killers.

 ......Kids like Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold members of the Young Republicans club at Columbine. They knew how to deal with the overpaid teacher union thugs. One shot at a time! Too bad the liberals rip them; they were heroes and should be remembered that way.” 

What an unspeakably vile comment!

Well, this comment was reported to the police by a teacher who makes it his biddness to keep tabs on scary and sketchy sites like Boots and Sabers.

The police responded, and the Boots and Sabers bloggers, hoping no doubt to prevent mayhem, provided the police with the trolls IP address.  

'Right wing wacko' turns out to be the former president of the local teachers union, (or as he might say, an "overpaid teachers union thug") most likely trolling as an agent provocatuer. His 'sockpuppet' is a sub literate soldier who denigrates teachers.

The whole story is at Boots and Sabers. It should be noted that the B&S guys, while, working with the police on this, are expressing misgivings about the fact that the loon is being locked up.

It is apparant that the fellow is not a threat, just lying leftie scum, which is not a crime any more than it is to be a truthful nerdy right wing loon (for which there is much rejoicing!).

So, given the facts do you think they were right to give out the IP addy? If not why not? Also, do you think the teacher should be incarcerated for internet hijinks? Why or why not?

Alas, no, there is asshattery on the right, as even a partisan wingnut such as me points out occasionally .There is idiocy all about, so it is really bizzare that this is the best they could come up with.

Of course, the winnings post deals with what may turn out to be a considerable foreign policy and environmental step forward. It seems likely that the potential of a success for the President, the hatred of whom has consumed them utterly, is what set them off. I doubt many of the voters got past the mild sarcasm of the initial paragraph.

The reporter is taking pains to cover for his wire service (which shows professionalism) and does seem contrite. He seems like a pushy arrogant little cuss, but most reporters are. If they weren't there wouldn't be any Spider Jerusalem would there? Docweasel considers the issue closed.

Credit where its due, he’s not cutting and running, as he easily could, he’s come back to explain, apologize and take his licks. Ok, that chapter is done, its rude and useless to keep bashing the guy once he’s apologized.
