Brickmuppet Breaking Down

UPS physical today.

Blood pressure was 175 over 100.

UPS has therefore laid me off until I can get it under control.

Suck.

Limit (I didn’t say stop) caffeine & salt.  Salt affects me more than the caffeine and you would be amazed how much salt is in the food we eat once you start reading labels.

3 Well that really sucks.  I hope you can destress and get it back down quickly.  Of course being without a job is not exactly ideal for lowering your stress levels ...

4 I didn't know they could do that.

5 I've had a similar shock.  Short term fix:  see your doctor for medication.  Long term?  Weight control and exercise...

and good luck!

6 After The Incident, I was put on a BP med.  I went from a regular 150/90 with a resting pulse of 90-100 to (usually) 110/70 with a pulse of 70.

It took a little while for it to take full effect, over a year, but when it did... boy, do I feel better for it.

There are some side-effects, though.  Increased sensitivity to heat and sunlight is the main one.  I'm likely to be on the med for the rest of my life, too... but it's a relatively small price to pay to feel as good as I do.  If I lose some more weight, I'll be golden.

Losing the caffeine wasn't a problem, oddly enough.
