3 Tornado Apocalypse passed north of here. All we got was some flooding, broken tree  limbs a few brief power outages that caused me to loose a paper.

On the other hand, I understand that the town of Deltaville was flattened.

I go through clothes, particularly pants, pretty fast at work so I am always looking for  a cheap alternative.

I saw a couple of kids at school wearing Zongshans. This was unremarkable in itself as this is a college campus and some idiocy is always going on, but it occurred to me that Zongshans are work outfits and the kids, being college students, might have picked them up really cheap.

Alas no...~200 bucks is the cheapest I found, ...they don't look terribly durable..and one would still need to go at them with scissors so as to not look too much like a mass murderer.

Damn commies.

Of course this means that those kids likely aren't using these as cheap attire....but as a none too cheap statement.

The bird death in Arkansas has been well reported. The initial hypothesis that it was due indirectly to fireworks or directly to severe weather was reasonable.

Then there was the report, also from Arkansas, of 100,000  dead fish turning up about 125 miles from the bird kill, with the whole area having had earthquake swarms since September.

Of course this is not in any way creepy, its just a coincidence.

...as is the bird fall in Louisiana yesterday,  The fish kills in the Chesapeake Bay, and off Brazil, or the epidemic plaguing the bats.

There is nothing odd, unusual or worrisome about any of this. There is certainly a rational explanation.

...or at least an explanation.

It appears that the CO of the USS Enterprise is in hot water over some videos he made for the crew on the ships last deployment.

Now the PC pantywaists are clamoring for his head.

The deployment in which the videos were created was between May 2, 2006 and on November 18, 2006 USS Enterprise returned to homeport after steaming nearly 60,000 miles. During their deployment, CVW-1 aircraft delivered 65,000 pounds of ordnance, including 137 precision weapons, to provide unprecedented support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom. They completed more than 8,300 sorties, of which 2,186 were combat missions, while flying more than 22,500 hours and making 6,916 day and night arrested landings.

A warship is a pressure cooker and a warped sense of humor is a reliable and necessary safety valve. This officer seems to have an impeccable record on the things that matter, like driving ships and managing flight operations . It will be tragic if he loses his career and America loses his services because some paper pushing professional whiners at the dull end of the spear who can't tie a bowline, let alone run a ship are allowed to claim another scalp.

Been busy with work and school with a side of jet lag.

I have one large unfinished photoblog post on my recent Japan trip still in the que and one or two more of those on the way.

My schedule has stabilized now and I'm pretty much caught up on my schoolwork.

I have an apartment tentatively lined up for next month.

Anyway, blogging will resume in a day or two and should be a reasonably regular event (3-5 posts a week) after that.

In the meantime, here is a bit of complete randomness:

Been a bit off for two days.

I Could not log on yesterday as the Japanese internet said the blog did not exist.

I overslept today...by a wide margin...In fact I slept almost 17 hours.
Funk was due in part to dehydration, sunburn and blisters and also due to bad news from school that is unrelated and therefore is hidden behind spoiler the spoiler tag.
 It seems that the credits required to graduate with a minor that is from a different department than ones major has been raised from 120 credits to 150 credits.

[ insert 437 pages of expletives here]

Previously having wildly different majors and minors simply allowed you to use the minor to fill a a lot of ones gen-ed requirements with classes that one found interesting and were possibly useful.

Now some helpful administrator at the school has finally realized that this policy allowed one to avoid completely asinine, useless classes and did not in any way contribute to ones despair, or rage and did not increase the amount of malicious expensive bulls**t one had to deal with.  Nor did it require one to cough up money for 30 extra credits after Old Dominion University had raised the price of said credits from by 7 percent. Helpfully helpful administrator has rectified the situation.
