Int: Dunning Kreuger is a thing. I dunno how much stupider I am, but I am making a lot of typos and only catching them via spell check.

I've been in a holding pattern till today. I was surprised that the PT facility had not heard of me and I have had NO follow up therapy and only one evaluation by a general practitioner. Getting the discharge papers and test results has been like pulling hens teeth. One of the reasons that I was able to be discharged early was that I was staying at my folks house which is handicap equipped. The hospital agreed to send the discharge papers and data to an affiliated facility near here. Alas...

Earlier in the week I got the general practitioner I got evaluated by when I got here to formally request the papers and test results and today they arrived. The doctor got me appointments with a neurologist and physical therapy, so I'll be able to start formal PT tomorrow or Monday.

I've been doing various exercises, like walking, playing on the stairs and trying to write. This is in some ways like being a kid again. The threshold for achievement is lower. "Oh look, I can stand on TWO legs without holding something!" "Yay! I eat solid food!" " I go poopy's by myself!" "Ima big boy! I can dress myself." "Oh look, I can sign my name. Really. That's supposed to be my name."

I really can't write. I can now speak with less difficulty but my speech is still slightly slurred. I can type with my right hand now and can use a fork with effort. I still can't type fast or use chopsticks. I have ordered some disposable chopsticks and will be making  a spectacular mess with them as soon as they arrive. 'Dressing myself' is a slight exaggeration as I can't quite get both shoes on without aid, but it takes considerably less effort to take a shower or get almost dressed than it did even a week ago.

I can chew now without constantly biting my jaw, and the "droop" of my right face is almost unnoticeable now.

My speech, being sub-par, has put my plans for the debut of my TWITCH cannel on hold. September first was the plan. If my speech doesn't improve fully, it's probably a no go anyway.

I'd mentioned briefly slipping in the shower, but it was not directly due to my balance issues or labored movements. My folks had thoughtfully placed a non-skid mat in the shower the first night. It actually proved to be a non-stick mat and flew out from under me the first time I showered. Since I was upside down and at a crazy angle I sat under the shower until the hot water heater ran out and I am sure hypothermia was about to set in. I'd gotten the air horn my folks had given me, but, it turned out they are more deaf than the horn is loud, eventually they came to check on my shivvering ass and simply getting some leverage by being able to reach the toilet I was able to stand.

That was the extent of my mishaps. Everything else aside from getting medical records has gone pretty smoothly. Progress has been steady. I've been waking further and further writing less illegible letters and today I shaved without cutting myself.

On the debit side, cell reception here in the swamp is diffident, internet is agonizingly slow and the blog's servers have been taking naps when I try to post.

The situation is hurtful and frustrating but at no point have I been faced with a situation that would force me to cling to a cargo plane to try and escape it. No one has gouged out my eyes for not wearing a burqa and I've not seen necessary to throw my baby across razor wire to escape the coming night.

So all things considered, I'm doing OK.

2 Glad to hear that you're doing better, even if it is a hard road.  It sucks when your body doesn't work the way you expect.  Hang in there and we're all rooting for you.

6 It is the little things that, accomplished one at a time, builds up to much bigger and better things.

When the day comes that you can make pancake without issue, than you know you have conquered the mountain.
