2 It was worse when we had to ask the Coasties to teach us how to sail a square-rigged ship for the Constitution's 200th birthday.
Good thing they still use the Eagle.

3 Actually that is worse...but understandable given how that skillset has deteriorated.

If I've got the timing on the sailing team rescue right, it happened as those line squalls were passing over last week. There is not much that even the finest shiphandler can do with a dismasted racing schooner except call for a tow.

Actually, I'm glad that public affairs did not have a propogandagasm over this. Otherwise we might be in an awkward position if one of our 110s got menaced by an Iranian frigate and we asked a 'Burke to casually sail over...and gently "cough".
